ABOUT THE ARTIST

Marilyn Bindewald, watercolor artist, is well known for her landscapes which show her love of nature, and more recently for her “Imagine” Series depicting her fun and whimsical side.

She focuses on working with watercolor because of its many facets, challenges, and rewards, especially showing its ‘different’ personalities as it flows on the paper.

She is the Summer of 2009 featured artist at Davenport, Iowa’s Vander Veer Conservatory integrating the “Imagine” Series with their “Alice in Wonderland” exhibit.

She has been accepted in many exhibitions such as the National Wildlife Art Show in Kansas City, Missouri, St. Louis Zoo Wildlife Art Walk, and Hallmark Cards “Crown Center Art Festival” Kansas City, Missouri. She has had paintings travel the state of Iowa for two years with Iowa Watercolor Society of which she is a signature member. Her work has been a part of the “Greenwich Village Fair” exhibit at the Burpee Art Museum, Rockford, Illinois, “Celebration of the Arts at Brucemore” with the Cedar Rapids-Marion Arts Council Award and Purchase, the “Aqueous” exhibit of the Kentucky Watercolor Society, West Texas Watercolor Society National exhibit, and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation’s “Iowa Wildlife in Art” exhibit.

Marilyn has been featured on television and in newspapers, and has given demonstrations in watercolor to elementary and high school students, art clubs, and has conducted watercolor classes. She has also developed many of her own watercolor techniques and still ventures into trying new ways to use the medium. For her, watercolor is still an adventure!
